TASHLICH & BIRTHDAY PARTY OF THE WORLD
Join Kol Emeth at Bol Park in Palo Alto (3590 Laguna Ave) for Tashlich and a Birthday Party of the World! Come cast your sins into the water and celebrate the world's birthday. This event features a lovely creekfront service, Minchah & Maariv for Rosh Hashanah, and of course birthday cupcakes and a beautiful playground. Tashlich is a several hundred year old Jewish practice of going to a body of water on the afternoon of Rosh Hashanah. We throw bread crumbs into the water as we symbolically toss away our sins. It is a short, sweet, family-friendly event with a taste of Rosh Hashanah, but outdoors in the beauty of the world.
YOM KIPPUR STUDY SESSION
Change Yourself, Change the World: Complete Teshuvah Through the Eyes of Rav Kook — What is the real pathway to repairing our world? Are there ways that our own behavior can amplify an energy in the world that wants wholeness and healing? Join Rabbi Booth for a study session of Chapter 13th of Rav Kook's magnificent book, On Repentance. This study session will begin at 3:00 pm in the Main Sanctuary and on Zoom.
YIZKOR BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE — Click Here
We are honored that you have chosen Kol Emeth as your Jewish and spiritual home. One key ritual is Yizkor which occurs four times a year, most prominently at Yom Kippur. During Yizkor, we set aside time together for each of us to remember our loved ones who have passed away. We also remember those who perished in the Holocaust and those who lost their lives defending the State of Israel. Each year we publish a Yizkor Book of Life in which we list the names of everyone our community invites us to remember. It is a custom to include anyone for whom we would sit shiva (ie, parents, siblings, children, spouse), and many of us include other beloved family members whom we want remembered. May our memories of our loved ones bring us blessing, and may we feel their continued presence in our lives. We invite you to join us in this beautiful custom of memory by filling out our Yizkor Book of Remembrance Form by September 17th.
ORDER A LULAV & ETROG — Order Here
Kol Emeth provides the local community an opportunity to order a lulav and etrog. These orders must be placed by September 17th so we can make sure to have enough for everyone to celebrate.
