After graduating, Maytal moved to Israel and served in the IDF as a Lone Soldier. Maytal has a Master’s degree from Tel Aviv University in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). She also completed CalStateTEACH, the California State University’s teacher preparation program. Maytal has a decade of experience teaching in Israel, California, and the Czech Republic.

Music Specialist & Assistant Director of Educational Programming

Tyler grew up in the East Bay. He went to summer camp at Camp Newman, which has informed much of his philosophy around Jewish music and song leading. He started song leading in 2004 at Congregation Shir Ami in Castro Valley. Tyler started singing in choirs in 1999 and continued to do so for 17 years. He got his Ph.D. in Psychology from University of California, Irvine in 2015, doing his dissertation in music perception. Since then, he has been working as a Jewish educator, song leader, and cantorial soloist throughout the bay area. He started working at Kol Emeth as an educator and song leader in May of 2020.

Mitzvah Director and Teacher

Jeff has been working at Congregation Kol Emeth for forty years. In addition to serving as our Youth Director in the past, Jeff prepares our students for their B'nai Mitzvah. In fact, Jeff prepared his colleague, Maytal Miller, for her Bat Mitzvah twenty years ago. Jeff enjoys studying Torah and musar, birding, and cooking for Daven & Dine, a shul enterprise he started with member Flaurie Imberman five years ago. He very much appreciates being honored recently by the congregation at the Spring Celebration.
