Join us once or often as we discuss books with Jewish themes. We read all genres, and include beloved classics as well as recently published titles. Each book is chosen by the member who volunteers to lead an upcoming discussion, and we remain committed to selecting works available in libraries as well as in multiple formats.

We meet on Zoom 10:30 am  - 12:00 pm. We generally gather on the first Wednesday every two months and invite all Kol Emeth women to join us.

Join us for a discussion of Maya Arad’s novel The Hebrew Teacher.  According to the publisher, New Vessel Press, this book tells the stories of how, “Three Israeli women, their lives altered by immigration to the United States, seek to overcome crises. Ilana is a veteran Hebrew instructor at a Midwestern college who has built her life around her career…Miriam, whose son left Israel to make his fortune in Silicon Valley, … [and] Efrat, another Israeli in California, is determined to help her daughter navigate the challenges of middle school…. In these three stirring novellas—comedies of manners with an ambitious blend of irony and sensitivity—celebrated Israeli author Maya Arad probes the demise of idealism and the generation gap that her heroines must confront.”

Join us for a discussion of The Matchmaker’s Gift by Lynda Cohen Loigman. One of her reviewers  writes, “From the bestselling author of The Two-Family House and The Wartime Sisters comes a heartwarming story of two extraordinary women from two different eras who defy expectations to utilize their unique gift of seeing soulmates in the most unexpected places…Even as a child in 1910, Sara Glikman knows her gift: she is a maker of matches and a seeker of soulmates…Two generations later, Sara’s granddaughter, Abby, is a successful Manhattan divorce attorney, representing the city’s wealthiest clients. When her beloved Grandma Sara dies, Abby inherits her collection of handwritten journals [where] Abby finds more questions than answers…is there really such a thing as love at first sight?"
