CKE WOMEN'S BOOK CLUB
Join us once or often as we discuss books with Jewish themes. We read all genres, and include beloved classics as well as recently published titles. Each book is chosen by the member who volunteers to lead an upcoming discussion, and we remain committed to selecting works available in libraries as well as in multiple formats.
We meet on Zoom 10:30 am - 12:00 pm. We generally gather on the first Wednesday every two months and invite all Kol Emeth women to join us.
Contact Flaurie with questions.
Our upcoming meetings and books are:
Wednesday, May 1, 2024
Join us for a discussion of Elizabeth Grover’s novel Kantika. Described by the New York Times as, “A Sephardic Family Odyssey From Constantinople to Queens: Inspired by the 20th-century migrations of her grandmother, Elizabeth Graver’s new novel, Kantika, depicts lives filled with music, ritual and hardship across continents and cultures.” We are happy to join this year’s One Bay One Book program by reading and discussing this novel.

Wednesday, July 10, 2024
**Please note, this is the second Wednesday**
Join us for a discussion of Mitch Albom’s latest novel, The Little Liar. Best known for his memoir, Tuesdays with Morrie, “Albom’s breathtaking novel considers what it means to tell a lie. It explores redemption and forgiveness, even in the face of terrible betrayal. Atonement takes many forms, and, as Truth [the narrator] explains, it is a visceral human need. For our sake and for others’, it’s important to make things right.” (review by Jewish Book Council).
