Join our community for a healing evening that looks at loss and strife through a new lens. We will be part of the international premiere of the film Legend of Destruction (directed and created by Gidi Dar, the creator of “Ushpizin”) which tells the story of the destruction of the Second Jewish Temple and the civil war that preceded it. It’s an epic war film, made with a unique cinematic language, constructed of 1500 hauntingly beautiful still paintings, made by David Polonsky (“Waltz with Bashir”) and Michael Faust. It stars the voice talent of Oscar Isaac and Evangeline Lilly among others. 

The similarity to the internal situation in Israel, and the events of October 7th that followed it, are upsetting and challenging. The film had a powerful release in Israel appealing to all sides of the political arena. It is considered by many as prophetic, a warning to Israel and the Jewish world. The Prime Minister at the time, Naftali Bennet, and President Herzog called on every Jew in the world to watch the film.

Kol Emeth is hosting this event (4175 Manuela Ave, Palo Alto) in partnership with Etz Chayim.

9:00 pm – Reading of Lamentations & Maariv (In Person & on Zoom)

The following morning, August 13th, join us at 8:00 am for Shacharit and Lamentations in the Kol Emeth Sanctuary and on Zoom. Mincha for fast days followed by Maariv will take place in the Kol Emeth Beit Midrash and on Zoom.
