Stay home from Synagogue. Yes, we're serious. Stay home. But...get two delicious challot. Invite a dear friend or someone you think would love a Shabbat dinner. Or just have dinner with your family, but make it special with candles, challah, and if you’re a parent, blessing your children. Here is a resource with the songs and blessings before the Friday night meal. This Hospitality Shabbat comes right after Purim, so here are a few discussion questions for Shabbat!

1. Share your favorite corny / Dad joke - what is the value of laughter at the table?
2. Esther initially is embarrassed to meet with her uncle Mordecai. We also know of "greenhorns," new immigrants to the US who didn't understand customs and would often embarrass their children with those misunderstandings. How do we show respect for aging relatives? How do we interact with relatives or friends who embarrass us?
3. God is never mentioned in the Megillah. Why? And then shockingly, Moses is never mentioned directly in the Hagaddah. Why?

After Shabbat, report back to any of the clergy or send an email to Rabbi Booth. Who did you have over? How was it? What resources or materials might have made it an even more special evening? Enjoy your meal; let them eat Hamantaschen!
