Stay home from Synagogue. Yes, we're serious. Stay home. But...get two delicious challot. Invite a dear friend or someone you think would love a Shabbat dinner. Or just have dinner with your family, but make it special with candles, challah, and if you’re a parent, blessing your children. Here is a resource with the songs and blessings before the Friday night meal. Consider asking the following discussion questions related to the week’s Torah portion, Va’era.
- Imagine you are Moses and hearing the promise of being freed. For what might you ask to be freed?
- What might you say to God if God appeared to you?
- What for you is the role of the Promised Land?
After Shabbat, report back to any of the clergy or send an email to Rabbi Booth. Who did you have over? How was it? What resources or materials might have made it an even more special evening?
