At Home Hospitality Shabbat

Friday, May 10, 2024 2 Iyyar 5784

6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Stay home from Synagogue. Yes, we're serious. Stay home. But...get two delicious Challot. Invite a dear friend or someone you think would love a Shabbat dinner. Or just have dinner with your family, but make it special with candles, challah, and blessing your children. And then report back. Who did you have over? How was it? What resources or materials might have made it an even more special evening?

Here are some resources:  https://www.myjewishlearning.com/article/shabbat-blessings/

Torah portion will be: Kedoshim. So a few table questions:

1. What is a challenging moment in your life? (In the Parashah: Aaron responds to the death of this two sons by sanctifying God.)

2. What are rituals that draw you close the people in your life or to God? (Korbanot, offerings, literally means "drawing close.)

3. The Torah says: do not insult the deaf, nor place a stumbling block before the blind. Your shall fear God, for I am the Lord.  Why is this law here at all? The Rabbis expand it dramatically, saying it can apply to anyone. How might you more broadly apply it?
